rough stock ready and rearing to buck!
During the May show, the packed stands witnessed as Doug Rohde took it to the buzzer; with an 8 second, qualified ride in the Bareback Bronc.
So here he is as our Caballo Diablo's featured rider profile!
When did you start?
I started a bit later than most I was about 18
Why did you start?
I always loved rodeo, since I was a little kid.
If you could have a beer with any person, living or dead, throughout history - Who would it be and why?
It would have to be my Da, my grandfather on my mums side. He died before I could remember. I never knew him.
Who do you see as the exciting competitor to watch out for in your event?
I would say watch this space for Harry Ash and Mitchell Tidyman. Those guys get ranker with every ride, they always bring their game no matter what. They are both heading to the US this year so goodluck to them I hope they rip manes over all 50 states.
If you had the power to change one thing about the event you compete in (ie a rule or anything) what would it be and why?
Nothing really, I think the rules are good as they are.
What's the furthest you've traveled to a rodeo?
Probably the 2000km round trip. I did with two other guys in a 24 hour space. I won the bareback and Jason won the bronc ride, we came home with over $2200 for the night, not a bad days work!
If you could give some advice to your 10 year old self, what would it be? Probably have to be to listen to my parents a bit more, would have saved me learning the hard way on a few things haha.
What's your funniest rodeo road story?
Nothing really comes to mind that is appropriate for printing haha... No what I mean is its pretty hard to pin point one moment really had a lot of good times with a lot of different travelling buddies
Name your favourite travel buddies to rodeos:
Adam Manwaring, Brett Taylor and my missus gets dragged along from time to time
Do you have any rodeo superstitions/routines?
I don't like to eat much before a rodeo, even if it's a night rodeo I might have a sandwich and apple all day maximum.
What's your favourite song to get you motivated for a ride?
Have to be Airbourne, live it up.
Would you like to give a shout out to your sponsors??
